Late Nite Music News | You Just Can’t Stop A-Ha’s “Take On Me”

The classic video for A-Ha’s 1984 hit “Take On Me” has just reached a new milestone. The clip has now been viewed one billion times on YouTube.

“Take On Me,” which featured a mix of live-action and pencil animation, is one of only two 80s videos to reach the milestone, with the other being Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” The video along with the song that coincides with it have lived on infamy since their respective release dates- from being the topic of countless parodies, being covered, to being the butt of endless jokes one fact remains. You cannot STOP A-Ha’s “Take On Me”.

“We couldn’t have done this without you, our fans,” the band tweeted. In celebration of this milestone moment, we’ve made something special…,” referring to a special line of merch in honor of the occasion.
