A baby girl in the U.K. has beaten the odds to survive after both of her lungs collapsed from crying too hard. Robyn Theaker was born five weeks prematurely and her lungs weren’t fully developed and she took a downturn hours after her birth when x-rays showed a small hole in both her lungs.
Her mom, Kylie, explains that when Robyn screamed and cried, it let too much air get inside too fast. Doctors inserted chest drains to help her breathe and the newborn fought for her life. And after spending 11 days in intensive care, she’s recovered and left the hospital – something her medical team “could not believe.”
“We feel so lucky to have a healthy happy baby – she’s a miracle,” Kylie says.
