The entertainment world has lost a legend. Tony-winning Broadway legend Ann Reinking has passed away at 71.
Reinking was an actor, dancer and choreographer known for starring as Roxie Hart in Broadway’s 1977 production of “Chicago” – and the 1996 revival. She got her start in a Seattle Opera House production of “Bye Bye Birdie,” and founder her way onto the Broadway stage in the ensemble for the 1969 production of “Cabaret.”
Reinking’s sister-in-law Dahrla King has confirmed to “Variety” that the Broadway legend passed away on Saturday night in Washington. She’s survived by her husband Peter Talbert and son Chris. Many members of the theater community – including Hollywood celebrities like Billy Eichner – are paying tribute on social media. Check out the posts below.
So grateful I got to see Ann Reinking dance in the revival of Chicago. One of the most mesmerizing people I’ve ever seen on stage. A singular genius. RIP. https://t.co/yqPPJV4ASX
