Operation Finally Home Gives Vet & Family New House

A Marine Corps veteran and his family are putting down roots in Florida, thanks to Operation Finally Home. It’s a nonprofit that provides new, mortgage-free homes to military heroes and spouses of those who died in the line of duty.

This time the lucky ones are Bradley Thomas and his family, who recently moved into their new fully-furnished home in Fernandina Beach. It’s a well-deserved reward for the decorated veteran, who had to overcome several hardships while transitioning to civilian life. Thomas retired from military service four years after a roadside bomb injured him in 2011 and his PTSD and back problems made things difficult.

But in the years since, Thomas has found a new job and a new purpose with a military nonprofit. He has dedicated his life to giving back to other veterans and even started his own nonprofit to help vets through fishing charters and guided hunts. “That fills a need for me,” he explains. “It makes me know that that path that I had to go through, that journey, wasn’t wasted.”
