A family in Ottawa, Canada, is grateful for their dog who got help to save their daughter during a sudden medical emergency. Haley Moore was walking her one-and-a-half-year-old Maremma mix, Clover, when she fell and had a seizure. But her pet was looking out for her and made sure she got help.
Video from a neighbor’s security camera shows Clover first checking on Haley, then freeing her leash from Haley’s hand before forcing a passing car to stop. Driver Dryden Oatway quickly got out as Clover watched closely and stayed near her owner. Oatway rang the nearest doorbell, then returned to tend to Haley and eventually, Clover stopped a second car for help as well.
Then the dog ran back home barking as neighbors told Haley’s parents what happened. When they got back to her, she was being treated by paramedics in an ambulance, and she was okay. The family isn’t sure what caused the sudden seizure, but they’re comforted knowing Clover is protecting her. “If this ends up happening again, I feel 10 times safer knowing she will be there for me,” Haley says.
