Lots of people get excited when a UPS truck pulls up because they know a package is arriving. But for one California kid, it’s not the boxes, but the big brown trucks themselves that make him happy. Every day, Marco Alcazar gets to wave at UPS drivers because the two-year-old’s mom, Clarissa, jogs near the UPS hub in Chula Vista.
He loves seeing the trucks and the drivers honking and waving back so much, she’s made it part of their daily routine. Driver Ron Jiminez says the toddler’s enthusiasm and smile helps start their day off right. He was there to see the joy on Marco’s face when he got to visit the UPS facility recently, and Jiminez was also part of a big surprise for his young fan.
UPS gave Marco a toy UPS truck of his own, complete with their emblems and stickers. Now he can wear his mini UPS uniform and pajamas and drive around in his mini truck delivering packages of his own while he waves to his favorite drivers.
