How Celebrities Spent Memorial Day

How did you spend Memorial Day? You probably took time to remember our fallen heroes, which is what the day is about. Celebrities did the same, taking to social media to commemorate, while also enjoying themselves on the long weekend.

  • Mark Wahlberg shared a picture of a solider carrying American flags in a cemetery, writing,
    “Respect. Honor. Remember” and included the poem “For the Fallen” by Laurence Binyon.
  • Matthew McConaughey shared a black and white picture of himself deep in thought, writing, “honor honor. remember.” His wife, Camila Alves McConaughey, shared a couple of different images in honor of Memorial Day, as well as a cute photo of her snuggling with her son.
  • Chris Pratt, posted a lengthy message, as well as a series of photos of veterans and their families and friends mourning loss, encouraging people to “take a quiet moment to really consider the sacrifice.”
  • Through her clothing company “Draper James,” Reese Witherspoon posted an American Flag with the caption, “Land of the free because of the brave.”
  • Kris Jenner shared an image of the American Flag with the words remember and honor on it, with the caption “Today we remember the heroes who have fallen, the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for our country and our freedom. We honor them today, and thank them and their families.”
  • Rob Lowe shared an image of a cemetery with American Flags, writing, “This weekend is not about eating hot dogs with friends and family and going to the beach or pool. It’s about honoring those who paid the ultimate price allowing us to do those things. WE REMEMBER YOU!”
  • In partnership with “USAA,” Jessie James Deckerposted a video to “raise awareness for the true meaning of Memorial Day – honoring the service and sacrifice of fallen military members and their loved ones across the country.”
  • Niecy Nash highlighted black soldiers specifically, writing, “This MEMORIAL DAY ….Remembering those Black soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for a nation that did not honor them. We don’t KNOW them all but we OWE them all.”
  • Leah Remini shared an image of the American Flag, “Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.” May we remember & honor them.”
  • Alex Rodriguez shared a picture of himself from his New York Yankee days in front of an American flag, writing, “Today we honor the brave men and women of our military who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms we enjoy as Americans. We are forever indebted and grateful.” He also shared a photo of himself with his two daughters on a boat wishing everyone a “happy and healthy” weekend.
  • Ayesha and Stephen Curry spent the weekend in Cabo, sharing a series of fun beach pictures on Instagram.
  • Rebel Wilson spent the weekend in Florida, where she enjoyed the beaches of Palm Beach and the “World Polo League Pride Event.”
  • Shaun White and Nina Dobrev posted a fun slow-mo video of the two of them on a trampoline.
  • Brian Austin Green enjoyed some pool time, posting a picture of his girlfriend Sharna Burgess and his children (with ex Megan Fox). Burgess commented under the photo writing “the best days.”
  • Tarek El Moussa and Heather Rae Young spent the day boat, relaxing, and having fun, sharing both pictures and videos.
  • Elizabeth Banks spent the weekend in Cape Cod, enjoying herself with an oversized lobster roll.
  • John Stamos shared a picture with his son, Billy, who was holding two American flags, writing, “Time to remember and honor all the friends, family and heroes we’ve lost and all those who sacrificed their lives so we can be free. I have a son now, Billy, and I want him to grow up grateful for the heroes that protect us and make it possible to enjoy each and every day.”

  • David Beckham is happy at home, posting a picture of him grilling with his son.
  • John Legend posted an “Instagram vs. Reality” video to Instagram of him popping champagne, and it not going as well as he had planned.
