William Shatner Will Head Into Space For Real Today

William Shatner is getting ready to blast off. His flight with Jeff Bezos’ space travel company Blue Origin was originally set for yesterday, but due to forecasted high winds the launch was pushed to this morning at 9:30a ET.

When he lifts off on the New Shepard’s NS-18 mission, Shatner will become the oldest person in space at age 90. He’ll be accompanied by:

  • Audrey Powers, vice president of New Shepard Mission & Flight Operations, who has been with Blue Origin since 2013.
  • Chris Boshuizen, co-founder of Planet Labs and partner at venture capital firm DCVC.
  • Glen de Vries, co-founder of the clinical trial software company Medidata Solutions.

The entire flight will last about 11 minutes, and the crew will experience about four minutes of weightlessness while in space. You can catch the launch live when the stream begins this morning around 8:30am ET HERE. The webcast will also stream live on Bue Origin’s website.
