A family in Colorado who has been struggling with hard times now has a new place to live, thanks to their caring community. Eddie Walker and his wife and two children moved to Denver from South Carolina over the summer and had been staying in a motel. But the conditions were really bad, including having no power for several days.
After Walker talked to The Denver Channel news about the motel, the family of four was kicked out with no place to go. But that didn’t last long when viewers saw their story. People immediately started donating to help them, which got the family into temporary housing. Generous community members gave more than $14-thousand to help the Walkers get back on their feet and even found a new job for Eddie.
Those donations not only provided an apartment for them, it was enough to help furnish the home as well. Local stores also donated beds and mattresses and anchors Anne Trujillo and Shannon Ogden from The Denver Channel came over and “spruced up” the home for the holidays. Thanks to the kindness of the community, there’s even a Christmas tree with presents under it for the two little girls. The family is blown away by the support and grateful to have a home for the holidays.
